Coordinates (Shape, Space & Measure)
God is infinite, man is finite. Though we are made in his image, he is without limit whilst we are confined to the small, the specific.
We are most comfortable within range of the zero point - we can handle units, tens, thousands. In the millions we begin to get lost and feel dazed, so we round up to the nearest hundred and use a key: 'One division = 1000 units'.
Not only are we dazed by the macro, we're also lost in the micro. We prefer to sit on the line - integers, one or two decimal places, simple fractions of a whole. Ten decimal places are fine for calculators, but we need to round up to the nearest.
Prehistoric time boggles our mind. Microseconds are gone before we can register them. God holds all these things in the palm of his hand. He counts the hairs on six billion heads. Mathematics, place value, the number line & coordinate systems give us an insight into the mind of our creator.
Isaiah 55:9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Nehemiah 9:6
You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.
Matthew 10:30
And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
