My name is Ian Wooffitt. I was a pupil at BCS from September 1993 to July 2005. After I left I went on to Dixons City Academy, formally called Dixons CTC.
I went there to study for my A levels for 2 years, but I
came away with my AS levels instead. I then found a place at
Bradford College studying Public Services; this is to give me a better
idea of the Public Services for when I join the Police.
When I was a pupil at BCS I thoroughly enjoyed myself, although I
did miss the occasional homework... I have many memories of Mr
Moon when he looked like Ned Flanders and Mr Walker when he
had hair.
Having been in a 6th form like Dixons, I can safely say that BCS
offers an education which is far beyond that of other schools in
Bradford. With the education pupils receive at BCS they are able to
compete academically with schools like Dixons and the Grammar
Schools. The pupils are able to compete because the staff works
hard with them to provide the best education possible, in a school of
BCS’ size.
I have had the opportunity to be able to come back to the school
and help in pushing the mission statement even further forward.
Being on par with all my former teachers, I get to see a different
side of them, and I see that all they want for the pupils is the best,
whereas when you are a pupil you might see their motives
differently, with all the punishments and so on. I’ve also noticed that in the classroom the teacher really can hear everything that goes on, including all the whispering that tries to get covered up!
