On Tuesday 8th May 2007, twenty-two Dutch students and three teachers will join us for four days as part of an ongoing international exchange programme. Meanwhile our Year Ten students will travel to Holland to visit the students who came over to stay with them last year.
Changing Landscapes
Our theme for this year is 'Changing Landscapes'. Bradford is in the county of West Yorkshire, a hilly part of the country famous for its textile mills which produced clothing in the 19th century.
After World War Two there was a shortage of men to work in Bradford's industries, so Asians from India & Pakistan immigrated here.
Now, in the 21st century the mills are mostly closed or converted to apartments, and Bradford is famous for its curries.
How has your part of Holland changed over the last 100 years?
Trips and Visits
Year Nine are planning many events and activities for our time together, including:
-
A visit to Saltaire, a village built in 1853 by Christian mill owner Titus Salt, who cared about the welfare of his workers. The village is now preserved as one of only 27 World Heritage Sites in the UK (others include the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey).
-
An over-night stay in The Dales, an area of great beauty
