Like light, rock, fire, gold & water, the concentration of energy we refer to as 'electricity' is an earthly manifestation of an aspect of God: his awesome, unmatched power.
Earthly writers often employ simile and metaphor ('he ran like the wind', 'the plains were oven-hot') to say how something in creation mirrors something else in creation.
When the Bible speaks of physical objects or processes as being LIKE this or that aspect of God it is because those physical 'types' are echoes of the nature of their Creator. Interestingly, people often use the word 'nature' for the created world around them, but never stop to consider whose nature it is.
The heavens truly declare the Glory of God.
Electricity, in the form of powerful lightning storms, is found in the Bible where God's presence comes close to the earth:
-
In the storms and darkness that covered Egypt whilst God persuaded Pharoah to release his people
-
On Mount Sinai when the Ten Commandments were given
-
In the pillar of cloud that led the Israelites across the desert by day
-
On the cross when Jesus died
The topic of our use of electricity is built on throughout the school:
