Life In The Womb

Week 6 “I am 4-6mm long and I float around in my amniotic sac. I have a tiny heart that beats. My eyes and inner ears are beginning to form and four limb buds begin to develop. I have a simple brain, spine and cerebral nervous system that are in early stages and my internal organs, blood, bone, muscle and blood vessels begin to develop.”

Week 8 “I am no longer an embryo, I am a foetus! I am 2.2cm long and I like to move around. I now have heart valves and all my organs are present in simplistic form. My spine and neural tube are quickly developing and my tiny arms, legs, shoulder, elbows, hips and knees are detectable. I even have fingers and toes! My eyes are starting to form and the middle part of my ears have developed.

Week 12 “I am now 6cm long and I am ½ oz in weight. I am fully formed and look like a human. I am still very small, but I would fit into the palm of my mummy’s hand. I enjoy swimming around and making fists. My organs, muscles, limbs, bones and sex organs are well developed. I can open and close my mouth, hiccup and I like to suck my thumb. I can now feel heat, touch, light and sound. My fingers and toes are now growing nails and my eyelids cover my eyes. I will keep my eyes closed for a further 3 months.”

Week 24 “I am 21cm in length and weigh around 1/2lb. If I was born now, then there would be a very good chance of me surviving. My face is fully formed and hair has now grown on my head.”

AT THIS STAGE I CAN STILL BE LEGALLY ABORTED UNDER U.K LAW!
