School Prospectus Curriculum

We believe that the biblical model for nurturing children has wisdom, clarity and purpose. Biblical principles do not just apply to areas of 'Church life' or personal morality, but to all aspects of human activity. We feel that a Christian world view has important contributions to make in all curriculum areas.

Although the existence of God is not necessarily denied, we feel that the present secular climate is failing children in their education for life, because it communicates the message that God has nothing relevant to say about the way the world is or about how we should live.

Curriculum design will reflect biblical principles. Our research for curriculum design will draw on a wide range of Christian scholarship. We will develop a curriculum that will enable the child to make personal decisions based on godly wisdom. We would hope that young people in their middle and senior years will be able to describe, under¬stand and challenge ungodly assumptions held by our culture and by those that exist both now and in the past.

Our programmes of study will also enable children to meet the attainment targets of the core and foundation subjects of the National Curriculum. We feel that this will help us to provide a useful framework for assessing the academic progress of the children in the school.

Pupil's progress is regularly monitored and examinations and tests are carried out with each year group. Pupils in Year 9 sit the national S.A.T. tests at the end of Key Stage 3. This gives practice in sitting public exams in preparation for GCSE courses which start in Year 10.

Compulsory GCSE subjects are:
