School Prospectus Ethos

We hope that one of the foundation stones of Bradford Christian School will be the quality of relationships between teachers, children and parents. This is vital for the whole development and total well being of each individual child.

We attach great importance to the values and attitudes that the children acquire from being at school. We will teach children to love and respect each other, and to respect adults. We expect children to be honest, and to develop obedient attitudes, without losing their sparkle of individuality. When children argue or fight, as all children do, we will teach them to repair their relationships and to forgive.

Good behaviour is a key to a happy and harmonious school. Children in the infant years are trained in positive responses as they learn to become members of their school community. In the infant years emphasis is placed on training children to make right choices. This emphasis is continued into the junior years. For older children we believe good behaviour is a question of training in righteousness.

Discipline is part of the training process. Correction is sometimes needed as part of this process and we have a list of school rules with disciplinary sanctions that are made clear to all pupils.

A fuller version of our approach to discipline is available in our discipline policy and prospective parents are encouraged to read the policy carefully before application.

The school operates a merit and demerit system with older students and students in Y11 are encouraged to serve on the prefect body where they can learn to apply the self-discipline they have learned in their years at the school to the supervision of younger students at break times.

The school operates a house system to further social interaction between years, with captains and vice captains being voted for by students themselves.
