We are required by law to state our sex education policy in the prospectus. A full copy of our policy can be obtained from the school office. Parents, we feel, have the primary responsibility in this area. The school aims to support pupils and families in developing wise choices in the area of sex.
Our policy is based on the Bible's clear teaching that sex is part of the loving relationship between husband and wife. We therefore teach that sex is only for within marriage.
We teach that homosexuality is sexual sin, alongside adultery and fornication, all of which are examples of sex outside of the marriage relationship between a husband and a wife.
Sexual sin, like other sin can be forgiven, if truly repented of. The effects of sexual sin are real and have lasting and serious consequences but can be restored through God's grace.
The right to withdraw
Legally, parents have the right to withdraw their children from sex education lessons. Parents do not have to give a reason for their decision to withdraw, a request for withdrawal must be complied with until the parent changes or revokes it.
The school may, however, invite parents to voluntarily indicate their reasons for withdrawal so that any misunderstanding about the nature of the sex education provided by the school may be resolved.
