Jorvik Viking Festival
During February half-term (16th-26th February 2006) there are some free Viking related activities in York:
For twenty-one years, York has resounded to the cries of hardy warriors, sea masters and ship lords who have trod the whale's way to terrorise the citizens of the city at the annual JORVIK Viking Festival.
In February, they will come again and King Sihtric of Dublin will arrive by ship to marry Princess Edith, the sister of Aethelstan, the West Saxon king of England in a spectacular Royal Wedding ceremony at York's great Minster.
However, not all are joyful at the coming of this fierce Viking to make a southern alliance in this Northern stronghold and the dogs of war bay at the gates. Dreadful handstrokes will be exchanged in terrible weapon play and there will be much to fight for before the day is done!
