Class Four Athletics Championships 2004 Reports

Class Four attended the Northern Christian Schools Athletics Championships on 1st July 2004. They have written a range of reports using a literary form of their choice: TV news report, interview, film script, epic saga, letter to a friend & comic strip, amongst others.

Yesterday on the 1st of July was the Northern Christian Schools Athletic Championship which eight schools took part in. Jake F-J did the shotput, six hundred and relay. Aaron W did the high jump, relay, eighty metres and the two hundred. Jake came first in shotput with a throw of 6.09 metres, Ben L threw the shotput 4.72 metres. Jacob also competed in the six hundred metres and the under 12 boys relay.

I ran in the 200 metres, 80 metres, 400 metres relay and throwing a cricket ball. In the 200 metre race I cam second but in the finals I came 4th. I was running with Jess M she came first but in the finals she came 5th but I only just beat her.

"Now onto the 80 metre race." I came last. Jess M came 3rd but in the finals she came 4th. In the relay we came second. We came 3rd in the throwing game.

I think I did pretty bad because I'd never done it before apart from in PE. Also Mr Barton made me do the high jump and I wasn't even supposed to do it.

Film script

  [On an athletics field. JH is looking in A's bag]

  A: What are you doing?

  JH: Just checking if my lipgloss was in your bag.

  [JM arrives from her running event]

  JM: I just walked in. Face it, its only a little thing.

  A: Whatever.

  JH: Okay, if you find it a big idea I dare you to do 600m.

  A: What? No way!

  [Cut to runners lined up at start of race]

  Teacher: Runners for 600m - on your marks, get set, GO!

  [Cut to end of race]

  A: That was hard! I dare you to do 80m sprint

  J&J: Okay, I bet that's easy.

  A: Well find out what you've got next!

  J&J: That was okay. Right, go do long jump.

  A: Fine I will do.

  [After long jump]

  A: That was ace - I came 3rd. Now you two do 200m.

  J&J: Aaargh! That's horrible.

  JH: I'm bored of arguing.

  JM: Me too. I'm sorry.

  A: I'm sorry too. Let's go to my house.

  [We went off and wouldn't stop apologising]
