Class Three Victorians Poems 2004

Here are some poems written by Class Three after their visit to the Victorian Museum.

Victorian report

Class 3 went to the Industrial Museum for our project in the school. When we got there a lady told us all about what were going to happen and what it would be like in the Victorian days.

The school was called Mooreside board school. When we got into the room the lady was strict. We had to sing all things bright and beautiful and O my darling clemantine. we had to write on slates and use ink pens to dip in ink and draw in books.

There was a back board.

My Victorian Poem

One day we went to see
A school which was old as can be,
We pretended to be Victorians
I don't think I'll be bored aagin!
We did our sums on slate board
The teacher called "Ma'am" had lots in store,
We had to be quiet and sit up staight,
You are certainly not allowed to be late!!!
Daniel was naughty he got the back board
I f that had been me
I'd have sat on the floor!!
Some times Victorian children were caned
They must have been in a lot of pain.

Victorians

Learning about Victorians is fun.We went to the Industrial Museum by 4 cars and a mini bus. We saw a Shire horse called Henry. His friends were called Norman and Noble

Naughty Daniel got the back board. The teacher did not give the class the cane or the dunce cap.

I was called Ellen Nightingale.

VICTORIAN teachers are very strict
I dressed up as a Victorian kid
Careful don't make a splodge of ink
Try to sit up other wise back board time
On the benches there's not much space
Write very neatly or punish time
Danial got the back board he stayed there quite a while
but at least he didn't stay there an hour.

On the way to a exciting day
We're going to the industrial museum
Hip hip hooray!
The teacher was strict but we did not get whipped
We learnt lots of things even our tables
On our costumes we had little lables
Saying our names
It was not time to play game
On the way home it was sad
We had fun one you should come
