Creation Lectures
This series of talks is being repeated at Christian Life Church during January-March 2007.
From 27th January to 16th June 2005 Dr Brian Cowell presents a series of lectures looking at the feasibility of taking the Genesis account of the six-day creation literally. About Dr D. Brian CowellQualifications: B.Pharm. (London), Ph.D. (London), Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. "I have studied the creation/evolution debate for 60 years, - since I was 17. Besides my usual studies in Chemistry and Biochemistry, this has involved acquiring a knowledge of geology, palaeontology, nuclear physics, radiometric dating, zoology, botany (but I have little knowledge in this field), and astronomy." Timetable of Lectures to the Bradford Christian School (dates revised 13th April)27 Jan 2005 Introductory Lecture on CreationA broad but brief outline showing that Genesis is fundamental to the Gospel and foundational for the whole Bible. There is also evidence for:
24 Feb 2005 Impossible BeginningBrief outline of the chemical structure of living matter including DNA and RNA. Structure of the simplest cells and consideration of the minimum requirement for an independently living, reproducing cell. An estimate of the infinitesimally small probability of such a cell coming into existence by chance. 7 Apr 2005 Comparative AnatomyThe weakness of the evolutionary argument that similarity of homogolous structures is evidence for evolution, e.g. the fin of a fish, the limbs of amphibia, reptiles and mammals, the wings of birds and bats have a similar origin in the embryos but do not spring from the same sets of genes. Consideration of the Scriptural kinds of organisms and variation that is possible within the kind. Special consideration of those structures evolutionists put forward as vestigial organs. (Moved from 21st April) 21 Apr 2005 The Fossil RecordThe fossil record in the geological column is presented by evolutionists as though it favoured their theory. We show that it strongly favours creation because of the lack of credible transitional forms. Consideration of the Flood Geology scenario. (Moved from 7th April) 12/5/05 Critique of the evidence put forward for the evolution of ManExamination of the fossils cited by evolutionists to provide evidence of man's and ape's common ancestry. 16/6/05 Puzzling ThingsDefence-Attack mechanisms, carnivory, effects of The Curse (Gen. 3, 17) How did the Bad Things come about? The effects of the Fall on all Creation including the development of carnivory and the hunting instinct. Discussion of attack-Defence mechanisms which are obviously designed, but seemingly incompatible with a God of love and a "very good" creation. Further talks are available on the following topics:
