Newsletter 11 Jun 2007The exam season is well under way and going smoothly apart from the fact that a spider has dropped twice onto Rebecca Pisacane’s desk in the middle of two separate exams. She thinks it’s a conspiracy but the rest are getting used to the odd stiffled scream! End of year exams (Secondary) begin for Year 7,8,9 and 10 and reports will come home on Monday 28th June. A fuller calendar of events is on the back cover of the newsletter. We held another Open Day last Saturday. This time we held the event on Saturday to attract parents who would normally not be able to attend in the week. Thanks to those students and their families who agreed to come in from selected classes to give a feel for what the school is like in session. We continue to be blessed with students joining the school. This term we have welcomed the following into our school community: Allanah Rhodes-Prior, Joseph and Rebekah Radley, Nayan Shama, Taylor Minto, Georgina Wilkinson. ICT ProvisionWe have recently made a decision to commit to update and overhaul our ICT provision. We have ordered 15 Apple Mac laptops with the ability to run windows, which will be housed in a wireless linked trolley. This decision involved much research and consideration. Mr Kershaw and Mr Heath are prepared to hold an ‘Open Hour’ to demonstrate the versatility of the new laptops and explain how the machines will enhance our ability to both meet exam requirements as well as prepare students for the world of work. If you are interested in attending this hours’ meeting, please RSVP direct to Mr Kershaw on 07944 755 613 or john@kershaw.org The meeting is on Thursday 21st June @ 8pm Parking ReminderPlease remember to be courteous (and legal!) in our parking before and after school. We invade Bolton Woods twice a day and must bear safety in mind. For parents of Primary children, please use the hill above the school. Parents of Secondary students observe a one-way system turning right on Walter St and parking echelon style backing onto the garages on Allison Lane. Most garages are unused, but where there are signs to the contrary please observe the request. Also in no circumstances should you park at the curb outside local residents’ houses. This has caused problems in the past. It goes without saying that you should not park on the yellow lines outside school. ROLL UP, ROLL UPFor the greatest show in… Bolton Woods A team of students, (under the watchful eye of Mr Heath) have been putting together an all singing, all dancing, all acting variety show featuring the crème de la crème of BCS talent.
