Newsletter 2004-02-2424th February 2004 Dear Parents and Friends, Welcome back for the second half of the Spring Term. A busy one for our Year 11 students, now in their last complete half term before they are released to their final study period before the GCSE exams start in May. Building RestorationPhill Wells continues to make good progress with the remedial work in Class Four and the boy's toilet. The company treating the dry rot will be in to treat the area next Monday. As with Class One, we hope and expect to have the room restored by the end of this half term. This half term will be the last that Phil works for us for a while. The majority of our refurbishment will be complete and Phill will leave us to join Christian Life Church in Shipley who are also having major refurbishment work at the moment. Phil's workmanship has been a lavish expression of God's provision to the school. The school is a wonderful building to work in and those of us who work in the building have many reasons to be glad at what Phil has organised and accomplished along with many extra hours of support given by parents/staff/students and friends of the school, in the last two years. We have already earmarked further work for Phil to come back and complete for us in the future. We will invite Phil to share his thoughts in a subsequent newsletter nearer Easter. PTA AuctionThe PTA Auction raised £300.00 towards the Amadeus Foundation. Two groups of Year 9 and Year 11 students will be visiting the Project this July. Staffing NeedsWe are also advertising for a second Maths teacher and a second Science teacher. Over the past two years our numbers have grown by 30% - 50% in most Secondary glasses, we have also taken into the school a wider range of special needs. Our class groupings now contain a greater range of needs to be taught by one teacher. We are therefore seeking to recruit a teacher of Maths (equivalent of 3 days) and a Science teacher (equivalent of just over 1 day) so that we can offer streamed single Maths and Science as well as double Science at GCSE. If you, through your contacts, know of anyone who would be suitable and interested in these posts, please give them the school's details. We are also looking for a new cleaner to work 16 hours per week (we would consider two people fulfilling this role). Again, if you know of anyone interested and suitable or are interested yourself, please let the office know. Videos AvailableCopies of amateur video for the Christmas Nativity and also Class 3 Llandudno trip (separate videos) are on sale at £3.00 each. All proceeds to Amadeus Foundation.
