Newsletter 2004-03-022nd March 2004 Dear Parents and Friends, Staffing NeedsWe continue to bring you our staffing needs at the current time and ask that you would prayerfully consider our needs and would approach contacts you are aware of, or indeed if you have an interest in any of these posts yourself.
Any combination of these three subjects to provide full time or near full time staff would be preferable. Also see details below for caretaker requirements. School Caretaker RequiredAs most of you know by now, Phill Wells will be leaving us by the end of March. During the time he has been with us, he has overseen the maintenance of the site, as well as working hard on the building projects. We are thankful to Phill for all the hard work he has put in, but it is obvious that we will need a school caretaker when he has left. We envisage this being a part-time position whereby a couple of times a week someone would come in to repair things, replace broken windows and do odd jobs. Please contact Mr Walker in the office if you know someone who may be interested. Small Business OpportunityNow our kitchen is in full working order, we would like to see a selection of healthy snacks being made available to students and staff. This would be an ideal small business opportunity for anyone with catering experience and the relevant food hygiene qualifications. To discuss this matter further, please make an appointment to see Mr Walker. Northern InsetThis Saturday, Bradford Christian School hosts the CST's Northern Inset. The guest speakers are Mark Rocques, author of Curriculum Unmasked‚ and a sixth form tutor, and Dr Arthur Jones. The theme of the day is a Christian Gap Year project being run from Leeds. If you are interested as a parent or know any young people considering a gap year, please let them know about the day. Please let the office know if you intend to come. The day will be held at the school from 10.15am to 3.15pm. The cost is £10 and lunch is provided. Student of the MonthWe have recently reintroduced an award we have previously given in secondary to exemplary students. Student of the Month for February has been awarded to Amelia Roberts in Year 11. We have also introduced letters of commendation to a further three students. This month our three commended students‚ are Azaria in Year 7, Maria in Year 10 and Roxanne in Year 11. We congratulate them and thank them for their positive impact at the school. Safety IssuesThere have been a number of incidents involving younger pupils waiting outside school on their own. We must remind parents of children in primary classes, 1,2 and 3 that they must come into the playground to collect their children. --- World Book DayOn Thursday 4th March as part of World Book Day, all pupils will receive a £1 token which can be exchanged for a range of £1 books at bookshops or put towards the cost of another book. Also primary pupils will have a special assembly where staff will be sharing their favourite books. Victorian Museum TripClass Three will be out of school on Friday 5th March on their Victorian Day at Bradford Industrial Museum. Children will be transported from school at 9.45am to the museum.
