Newsletter 25 Sep 2006Newsletter: Monday 25th September 2006 Dear Parents and Friends This will be a busy week in school as we prepare to meet you this Friday for our Annual PartnershipEvening. As always I look forward to this evening each year. It is vital for us to meet and share the initiatives for the coming year and to reaffirm the basis of out partnership. When the school started we met as 16 families with 37 children between us. 5 of those families were staff families, a further 3 families were represented on the governing body. We had a strong sense of purpose, unity and shared understanding of what we were trying to achieve. With a school of 120 families and with the children of our original families grown up and left school, it is vital that we meet again and catch the vision and purpose that we working towards. Essentially the vision is to disciple young people with a relationship with God and the plans He has for them as part of an education that equips them to find their place in the world. We have a varied programme to share with you including a session by Dr Pike, one of the school’s governors along with reports from staff about new initiatives this year. We also offer an opportunity to catch a wider understanding of what God is doing in Christian Education as we host Graham Coyle of the Christian Schools Trust. We also have an interactive session planned where we discuss the feedback from the questionnaire we have recently sent out. I especially look forward to meeting again those parents that are new to the school. Have a great week, See you Friday, Mr P J Moon Head Teacher Future Dates
Primary Department Homework: Can par;ents ensure that pupils in class 3 & 4 have a suitable folder to transport homework to and from school? They could use book bags or a sturdy plastic folder that will take A4 sheets. There have been a number of lost or untidy pieces and we feel this will help. It will also be a good reminder and organisation of things they have to do. Classroom Support: Communication: Would parents in Primary also look out for a few extra notifications to be sent out over the next week or so including “Term Overviews” and information on “Progress Meetings”. Assembly: Parents would also be very welcome to our weekly assembly on Wednesday at 2.30pm. This week is Achievements and Talents. If you know your child is taking part why not pop in, you would be most welcome. Head Lice: We have had an incident of head lice reported. Please would parents check all children’s hair and treat accordingly. What it’s like to work in my old school? Jonny Townend writes: I decided to take a year out after finishing my two year college course, but instead of travelling I felt the Lord was prompting me to go back to BCS. I came to BCS on a two week Work Experience from college and loved every minute of it. Seeing as I had been a pupil of the school since Y3 I knew pretty much what was in store. I knew the teachers and a lot of the students so to come back as a teacher was quite strange to begin with, but as you get used to seeing the teachers’ as colleagues rather than the ones who you are scared of at times, the whole experience becomes a lot easier. It is great to be back teaching at BCS and it is amazing to see God working through the pupils and the staff. The Lord is at the centre of the school and I look forward to being a part of the plan God has for it. Nicola Clarke writes: This is my second year working at BCS now so I like to think I have firmly established myself as an honorary member of the staff room! That was the weirdest transition; being allowed in the staff room without having to knock! I love working here, it’s a real privilege to learn the other side to my old teachers’ personalities. Yes, teachers are real people! I never really realised how much I wanted to teach before I experienced it first hand, but I’ve learned a lot about myself here too. The school has given me a fantastic opportunity, for which I am very grateful and am determined to give back my best. I love working in the unique environment and hope and pray that God will use me here for the benefit of the children and the extension of His Kingdom. Ian Wooffitt writes: I was a pupil at Bradford Christian School for 12 years, and I was there from its beginning, along with Joe Gatenby, Grace Walker and Jake Stockhill. During my school career the atmosphere at the school with the teachers and the pupils was a very comfortable one, much like a family. Also with working in the school as a teacher the atmosphere hasn’t changed that much, apart from being under the authority of the teachers, I now am one. Also I still have pretty much the same friendships, with those teachers who have had the biggest impact on my life as a pupil, and we are still able to have a laugh together. As a teacher in the school, it is good to see the different personalities that all the pupils have, and being able to work with them, helping them achieve their best. Looking back at my time here I can see that I couldn’t have had a better bunch of people looking out for me. Football Report – BCS v Sunbridge Road Youth In the first match of the season BCS played Sunbridge Road sporting the new kit provided by sponsor Phil Wells.
