School Prospectus TestimoniesRachel Naylor - former studentIt has taken me a long time to find an opportunity to write to you to express my gratitude for everything you did for me during my two and a half years at Bradford Christian School. The other day I was reflecting on my days at Bradford Christian School and I have a lot of happy memories of the times I spent there. I learnt many valuable lessons and gathered a lot of biblical knowledge which has equipped me for my life after school. I believe that everything that happens in our lives God has let happen for a purpose, and after leaving school I realised why God sent me to Bradford Christian School. I have now got the confidence to stand firm in my faith and stand up for what I believe in. I'm loving sixth from and I really enjoy my subjects. My friend Meg and I along with the R.S. teacher, who is a Christian, have started meeting together to pray, in the hope that with God's help we could establish a Christian union within the School. You, along with other teachers in the school taught me a lot about God and what it means to be a Christian. Each one of you were and still are a living testimony of your faith in God. I guess all that's left to say is 'thank you'. I hope that God blesses the school and it continues to grow and that the seeds of Salvation will be planted in the lives of every child that attends the school. Liz & Ron Brooksbank - ParentsThe change in Nicky was instant and dramatic. We marvelled at the change in him, and still do. We are both very proud of our son, and the way he has turned out, both in and out of school. He is caring and thoughtful, sensitive and loving. We believe with all our heart that Nicky is where God wanted him to be. We believe that Nicky is the way he is today because he received the love and encouragement from the teachers that he needed. Emma Clarkson - former student.Although I had a great time at Bradford Christian School I also learnt some important things that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. My faith in God was strengthened amazingly as was my belief in myself. I also learnt the importance of respect for others.. Katie Thomson - former studentBCS means a lot to me. /joined the school in Year 7. I came form a non-Christian school and I was worried at what my friends would say if I told them I was going to a better school. But now at my new Sixth Form I am able to tell my friends where I came form and that I am a Christian, this is because through BCS my confidence grew also so did my faith in God. The school is a very special place, too hard to sum up in one paragraph. There is so much to tell. God does some wonderful things in this school. God put some great people in my life here and provided some life changing experiences at BCS so much so that I didn't want to leave. Laura Booth - former studentIts only when you leave BCS that you appreciate it has something that other schools don't have. The Christian perspective means it's not only your academic ability but it's your individual achievements that really count. There is a very good working relationship between the teachers and the pupils. I enjoyed myself at the school and gained a lot from it especially meeting and working with other Christians. Mark Bateman - former studentBradford Christian School did not, and never had, attracted me until I had a strange encounter in my school transition at Year 7. Following the usual school patterns, I went onto a local Secondary school but I had a shock. Crying, frightened desperate to get out. I didn't even know why. I wasn't even a shy person. However, now I realise it was all part of God's plan to lead me where God would have me for my Secondary education. The first memories of the school are unforgettable. I would not trade them in for anything. I just remember being desperate to get up in the morning, put on my uniform and get to school. They were some of the best days of my life, Never before had I been in a school which used a Bible as a text book or some worship songs in assembly or had a devotion to start the day. The students were just so loving, so different. They made me instantly feel part of the group, both in and out of school. I just knew this was home. There is no better place than in God's will. All the time I was unaware that the school would change my life and set me off in a completely new direction. The teacher's input into my life was vital. I was to go through a moulding process; no longer would I listen to secular music or watch horror films amongst other things. I just thought I was at the school for education! Year 9 saw a turning point in my life. I committed myself to the Lord and was baptised as a result of God working through certain teachers both in my school and home life. I am certain that had I grown up at another school I wouldn 't be where I am today; in Bible College, being grounded in the Word of God, had I not been given this desire from God at school. Bradford Christian School is the place where God wanted me to begin to mature in Him. I am particularly grateful to Mr Moon and greatly admire his vis/on and purpose for the school. I know God will continue to do amazing works in the students' lives as I have seen evidence of this already. I praise God for a school that focuses on discipleship and a person's heart as well as giving a good education. 'We do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal'. 2 Corinthians 4v18. Nicola Clarke - former student and teacher"Bradford Christian School?" they say, looking very puzzled "What?" "Is that like when you read your Bible in lessons and pray?" Yes, actually that's what we did! Moving from BCS to another larger school in order to study A-levels was a daunting experience for me, as it would be for any other teenager, and somehow I believe that if it wasn't for my previous experience, spiritual growth and maturation that I experienced whilst there I certainly would not be coping these days! It is often not until your life changes that you realise how blessed you were with what you had, and it wasn't until I moved away from BCS and could take an objective view of the school's vision, teaching methods and morals that I realised the special and unique way that I had been educated for the last ten years. The great thing about Bradford Christian School that separates it from any other secular school is that the emphasis is not only placed on the pupil achieving a great set of grades in their GCSE's, but it is prioritised that the pupils are discipled and encouraged in their faiths to develop into unique young adults with a desire to continue in the way God set out for us to go. This does not mean that education is compromised; the teachers are experts in their department and teach with authority, there is a clear balance between spirituality and Maths! I have seen Bradford Christian School grow from being a two-dassroomed portacabin to the site at Bolton Woods, and I am privileged to have been part of BCS history. Mr Moon's dear vision has brought so much to so many and watch this space for the future! (Miss Clarke recently returned to the school as a Support Assistant). Danny Townend - former studentI started my school life thinking that the purpose of school work was to see how well you could copy off of the person sat next to you, and that the purpose of teachers was solely to agitate the pupils. Then I began at Bradford Christian School. The teachers took time to explain the work and were willing to work with individuals on a one to one basis. It was refreshing to have adults take a genuine interest in whether I, as an individual, understood the work and whether I was happy in general. In my recollection I had a relationship with the teachers, not one based on fear or discipline, but based on a mutual respect between teachers and pupils. The fact that Bradford Christian School can offer this relationship is what makes it stand out from a lot of other schools. The strange yet no doubt beneficial thing about BCS is that it is not exam grades at the fore front, nor relationships between teachers, nor relationships between pupils, it is Jesus. All the other things come hand in hand. The sound spiritual and moral input which I received at BCS is input which I would have otherwise never received, and this I am extremely thankful for. Bradford Christian School provides a solid spiritual and academic education, a friendly and nurturing environment, and as I remember a lot of fun! Mr & Mrs Spencer - parentsWe are pleased to enclose a testimonial. It would be very easy to firstly praise the high standards and loving and nurturing environment that can be experienced at Bradford Christian School and of course, it is appropriate to share this as our opinion, we do feel though that God should be the first one to praise, by the way he led us to BCS. Our daughter has not once since the first day, said that she did not want to go to school, in fact she is an eager student. This probably partly due to the excellent level of pastoral care and the fact that the school is small enough to have an embracing family atmosphere and is a positive and stimulating Christian environment. It also has a dedicated and diversely qualified and experienced staff, which is obviously complementary to make the school successful. Another way of looking at this is that God has brought together people of faith with a wealth of gifts and a desire to use them for His purpose - Praise Him for that. One of the main points we would like to share is how all the pupils, from Reception up through the school develop their faith in such a loving and supportive environment. When we share our experience of BCS with others we reflect on how our children have changed in so many positive ways, we feel that the Lord has truly blessed them, and us. For their relationship with God to be able to flourish day by day because, without any apology they may freely be part of a school where God is the centre and is central to decisions about the school and the teaching, makes us appreciate the depth of His blessing upon our family. To be more specific and to give a few examples of benefits to our children since attending BCS: Our son was not an unruly pupil when he attended his previous school, but he did not take his studies seriously. Sadly, from comments he made there was a general feeling of disrespect towards the teaching staff and also because of the perspective of the curriculum taught in secular schools he was confused about many issues. We have observed over the last couple of years that he has changed into a bright and articulate young man, who respects those around him. We have also seen him quietly develop a deeper understanding of the Christian faith and a desire to know God more, which we attribute to the level and accuracy of Christian teaching at BCS. We can quite clearly see how God has been working in his life. He will leave BCS later this year with a healthy and positive attitude to life and learning and with a dear direction for his life, both in his further studies and career as well as his personal journey of faith. We feel that the way he has developed is due to the positive and stimulating environment at BCS and the careful nurturing by the staff to enable and encourage the pupils to explore and develop their faith, as well as the high level of teaching of the curriculum, which is differentiated to meet student's needs. Lauren Stringwell Current StudentMoving to Bradford Christian School is one of the best things that I have ever done in my life! When I moved here I had extremely low self esteem and confidence in myself especially when it came to subjects which I struggled tremendously in. Over these summer holidays I have had that encounter with God that was spoken about by yourselves in assembly. When I moved to Bradford Christian School I sincerely had no confidence in what we had done in a couple of subjects and in the basics I already ‘knew’. I was full of fear and I had set my mind to thinking I knew nothing and I was good for nothing as this is what was being said to me by friends and sometimes the way a few teachers acted around me. This made me believe I was hopeless in French and Maths and unfortunately I let this affect me when I moved here. A Christian song I had listened to told me as a message from God that I can succeed in these two subjects if I just rely on Him and ignore what others say or think about me. I have cried and reflected about this for ages as I feel I have let myself down completely and you teachers as I gave you no time to help me before I had it straight in my mind that I was ‘thick’ and might as well give up before I waste anyone’s time. By feeling this emotion and passion in me I prayed about it deeply and I asked for wisdom and comfort and help to have the ability to learn French and get better with my Maths. Since I had been praying I have been talking with some of my friends who are very good at languages and Maths. They have helped me get back on track as best I can at the moment and they are prepared to help me along the way. I feel now that if I had the opportunity to do French I CAN DO IT (Phil 4v13). I am determined to do it, not just for me but to prove to all those who doubted in me that I can and believe in my heart that I can and I can do well if only I trust in God and God alone! I really want to be discipled by the school and now I can see that it was foolish to let fear get in the way as I was letting the devil take over my life by putting fear at every angle. Now I am more confident in both subjects as I have been revising and talking with friends. I strongly believe that it is thanks to God for helping me get out of the pit I was digging for myself and for giving me the strength to carry on and do better than I have ever done before!
